COVENTRY campaigners with learning disabilities have called for more help to ensure they get the same quality healthcare as everyone else.

A report by the charity Mencap has revealed more than a third of doctors and nurses believe patients with learning disabilities are discriminated against in the NHS.

Mencap has used Learning Disability Week to launch a new campaign, Getting it Right, urging the NHS to take action to give them a fair deal.

Christine Upton, of Earlsdon, has first hand experience of being treated differently by doctors because of her learning disability. Christine is a member of Grapevine's H team which trains doctors and other health services staff.

Young people stay safe

More than 500 young people from across Coventry came together at a special event at the Ricoh Arena on 26 March to celebrate the achievements of 11 to 21-year-olds. Young people from Grapevine showcased their video about staying safe when you are out and about on your own.
