Grapevine is celebrating after receiving a cash boost for a new project in the city.
Grapevine is among just five groups in the West Midlands to receive the funding from the Equality and Human Rights Commission. The charity plans to use it to help young people with a learning disability from black and minority ethnic groups.
Clare Wightman, director of the charity, said: “We are really delighted to have been successful. We know that those young people have more problems than any other group when it comes to leaving school, so this project is about making their lives better.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission has awarded more than £600,000 to the five West Midlands organisations that were whittled down from 50 community and voluntary organisations in the region. The money is part of £10m that is being given to organisations across England, Scotland and Wales.
