PHOTOGRAPHERS with learning disabilities will have their work displayed alongside a prestigious exhibition to mark the reopening of the Herbert Art Gallery in September. To celebrate the £20 million redevelopment of the Herbert, an exhibition from the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) is being showcased as part of a national tour in Coventry. Peter Clark, Alan Hobden, Paul Hobson, Michael Smith and Kate Cleal have had their work showing everyday things in unusual ways set next to pictures from famous photographers. Denise Stokes, project co-ordinator, said: “A few months ago we had a photography competition and had over 90 entries, which were put on show at the Council House. We are excited pleased that some of the winners have been asked to show their work at the Herbert.”Through the competition people developed their photography skills and used SLR cameras to take high definition photos. The exhibition, Something That I’ll Never Really See: Contemporary Photography from the V&A is at the Herbert Gallery, Jordan Well, from 16 September 2008 - 11 January 2009.
