Grapevine provides a ‘Care Act’ advocacy service to anyone under 65. Age UK Coventry provides ‘Care Act’ advocacy to anyone 65 and over.
The Care and Support Act (2014) said that if you are not able to speak up for yourself and you have no family or friends who are able to represent you, you have a right to an independent advocate.
An advocate will then support you during:
- needs assessments
- support planning and support reviews
Advocacy can help people with physical or learning disabilities, older people or those with mental health issues to make informed choices and decisions about their own health and social care support.
