Job vacancy: Project Worker

We are looking for a part-time project worker to join a small, friendly team in Coventry helping people who’ve been held back to build the lives they want.

You’ll help them plan for the future, uncovering their talents and passions.

You’ll help them make connections to others and grow networks that strengthen, bring opportunity and help them take charge of their lives.

You will support people to be safe, be well, get work and achieve their dreams.

About Help and Connect

Help and Connect is for autistic and learning disabled people in Coventry to make a plan, get connections, get work, stay healthy and stay safe.

We help with the most pressing needs first then equip people with skills, knowledge, support networks and readiness for self-management and onward opportunity.

Click this link for five stories that help illustrate our work on this project. Each is person-centred and tailored to individual assets and dreams – but we work in many more ways!

About the role

You will have a role in delivering Help and Connect – four inter-connected strands that help learning disabled and autistic people get ahead of their problems and break the cycle that sees them regularly at the door of adult social care.

These four strands are:

  • Accelerate – increase engagement in education, volunteering and employment
  • Safeside – improve knowledge, skills and confidence in relation to safety
  • Health Team – improve health and well-being
  • Plan and Connect – improve independence and resilience, social participation and confidence.

Most people experience more than one problem. The role requires you to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and with community members so that you can identify needs at an early stage, work with the whole person and reduce the chances of the same problems happening again.

We are looking for

A creative problem solver who is able to work on their own initiative to find opportunities and connections.

We are looking for someone who is good at listening and communicating, able to work confidently across a broad range of people and agencies.

You will understand the barriers people face and have a strong desire to help people navigate problems and develop their confidence and skills for the next stage of their life.

Benefits include
  • 25 days annual leave plus 12 bank holidays (full-time equivalent and then pro rated)
  • Flexible working
  • Stakeholder pension scheme plus 8 per cent employer contribution
  • Employee Assistance Scheme
  • A friendly workplace with a strong culture of helping people uncover their potential.
