An adaptive strategy is only as good as its learning habits. Here are the habits and practices we use at Grapevine.

Listening as intelligence
What we hear from the people we walk alongside, from our team and from partners is treated as strategic evidence. It flows into decisions, not just reports.
An annual open review
Each year, trustees, staff and community members test the strategy against what has changed and what we’ve learned. We use this to adjust priorities.
Honest accounting
We explain what we tried, what worked, what didn’t and what we changed as a result. Learning from what fails is valued alongside celebrating what succeeds.
Room to seize the moment
We deliberately keep capacity available to respond to what we cannot predict — the crisis, the opening, the community that comes to us with an idea we’d never have written into a plan.
