In 2025, Grapevine and Central England Law Centre supported local people to respond to the government’s consultation on proposed changes to disability benefits at a drop-in event — and we are doing it again!
This time to respond to the government’s ‘call for evidence’ in its review of the Personal Independence Payment benefit (PIP).
Save the date: Wednesday 6 May, 10am to 12.30pm, Belgrade Theatre.

Known as the Timms Review, the call for evidence will gather feedback and insights from individuals and organisations nationwide to inform whether the health and disability benefit PIP as it stands today is:
- Fair
- Fit for the future
- Still working well in a changing world for disabled people and people with long-term conditions.
The government says the review of PIP aims to help support better health, higher living standards, greater independence and employment where possible.
Grapevine and Central England Law Centre want to know what YOU think.
As Coventry-based organisations working with disadvantaged people, we intend to contribute evidence to the Review with a full and true picture of what life with (and without) PIP is like for disabled people and people with long-term conditions in our city.
Our submissions will include people’s lived experience, our own knowledge, data and reports.
To achieve this we are once again hosting a free, open event (no appointment necessary) for people to come and share their experiences of PIP.
The ‘PIP Review Consultation Event’ takes place on Wednesday 6 May from 10am to 12.30pm at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry city centre (CV1 1GS).
The evidence we gather will be submitted to the Timms Review.
Staff from both of our organisations will be there to talk people through the Review, what it is about (easy read link below) and how they can also submit their individual experiences to help inform what happens next with PIP.
Sign up for the event so we know you’re coming and please let us know any access requirements here.
It is very important we respond to the Review so that the government knows what Coventry people think about PIP.
Please tell us you are coming and let us know a bit about you by clicking this link.
You can share this blog post with anyone you know who receives PIP or has applied to receive it.
You will find shareable posts and a walk-through video of our event venue, the Belgrade Theatre, on our social media channels soon.
