Creative Kindness needs YOU

A group of people from Coventry that creates kindness through arts and crafts is searching for more people to get involved in their movement.

Their free weekly meet ups on Thursday mornings at Coventry Central Library have grown from 5 to 13 regulars and they have just opened a second session on Tuesdays at Coundon Library. But they’re not satisfied yet!

They want more people to get involved – naturally creative or not – so they can continue in their ambition to grow Creative Kindness across the city and into every community library.

What started off as one table has now spread to two, with people working together to learn new skills or people working by themselves. There is an abundance of laughter, love and conversations as people connect and relate to each other. Over the past couple of months excitement has been growing around the idea of taking Creative Kindness to other libraries.

“Creative Kindness helped me at a time in my life where I was feeling very vulnerable and fragile. It’s an inspiring and amazingly supportive group. This is my happy place to be. It is so welcoming and I just love it. When I am here I feel like me.”

The Creative Kindness idea was generated at the start of 2019 at an Ideas Factory hosted by Grapevine posing the question, “What can we do together to tackle isolation?” Earlier this week, we revealed more about the woman behind the idea, Chris. You can read her story here.

Theirs is a story of connection and friendship across all backgrounds and experiences. The more people who join in, the more opportunities there are for others to feel valued too.

Isolation and loneliness are the biggest issues faced by public health services but the answer often lies in communities. What could YOU do to help?
